Welcome to Grandma Stove!

Hey there! I’m Dorothy Williams, the founder and creative heart behind Grandma Stove. I’m so glad you’re here! If you love sharing home-cooked meals, crave simple recipes that truly work, and believe a recipe can warm more than just your kitchen, you’ve found your people.

I started Grandma Stove with one core belief: that the best recipes are the ones passed down, tweaked over the years, and shared with love. Food is my language of care—something I learned at my grandma’s apron strings and in the clatter of family gatherings.

A little about me: I’ve spent over 15 years cooking, collecting, and testing recipes, from bustling county fairs (where my apple pie won blue ribbon honors!) to being featured in “Home Table Monthly” and collaborating with local chefs on community cook-offs. I’ve taught dozens of hands-on kitchen classes and have judged several bake-offs at our annual town festival. What I’ve learned along the way? Recipes aren’t just instructions—they’re invitations to connect, experiment, and make memories.

My hope is that Grandma Stove becomes a place where you find inspiration, courage to try something new, and a reminder that delicious doesn’t have to mean difficult. Welcome to our kitchen!

How It All Started

Some of my earliest memories are set in a sun-dappled kitchen with my grandmother, flour swirling in the air as we mixed up something special. She had a way of turning ordinary days into celebrations with just a pot of stew or a plate of cookies. That sense of comfort, creativity, and connection through food stayed with me.

I started jotting down her recipes (and my own tweaks) in a worn notebook. Eventually, friends and family began asking for my versions—the fluffier pancakes, the never-fail chicken casserole, the chocolate cake that disappeared before the plates were cleared! I loved the idea that my kitchen experiments could bring joy to others.

As I saw how food could bring people together—whether at Sunday brunches or weeknight dinners—I wanted to create a space where anyone could find tried-and-true recipes, along with a few stories and lots of encouragement. That’s how Grandma Stove was born: out of a wish to share, to teach, and to celebrate the simple magic of home cooking.

Why You Can Trust Me

With over 15 years of recipe writing, testing, and teaching, I bring a blend of hands-on experience and passionate curiosity to every post. My cooking journey has taken me through bustling professional kitchens, community food drives, and countless hours at my own stovetop perfecting each recipe before it makes it here.

I believe in sharing only what truly works—every recipe on Grandma Stove is carefully researched, cooked multiple times, and tested by real people (my ever-hungry family and friends, who never hold back their opinions!). I’m committed to simple, straightforward instructions, so anyone can feel confident tackling new dishes, whether it’s a classic casserole or a dazzling dessert.

Presentation matters, too! I take all my own photos, striving to capture not just the food, but the feeling of home—warm light, rustic textures, that “just made” magic. I use natural lighting, real ingredients, and honest moments—no fancy props or staged perfection.

Beyond the kitchen, I love exploring local farmer’s markets, reading cookbooks like novels, and traveling for taste inspiration (ask me about my quest for the perfect biscuit!). These experiences fuel my passion and help me keep learning, experimenting, and sharing new twists on old favorites.

When I’m not in the kitchen, you’ll find me gardening, quilting, or hosting neighborhood potlucks. I believe food is best when shared, and I hope you’ll feel that welcoming spirit in every corner of Grandma Stove.
